¿Por qué necesitamos una Ordenanza Segura y Bienvenida en Wyandotte?
Hasta 30,000 personas en el Condado de Wyandotte - 1 en 5 personas que vive en el condado - pueden tener dificultad de acceder una identificación con foto emitida por el gobierno (niños en cuidado temporal, inmigrantes, personas previamente encarceladas, personas sin hogar, víctimas de violencia doméstica, y ancianos).
Además, esta ordenanza apoya a las autoridades locales por dejarles enfocarse en la seguridad de la comunidad en vez de ser desviadas hacia la aplicación de leyes federales de inmigración. Coordinar con actividades de ICE - que han sido encontrado ilegales e inconstitucionales - puede hacer vulnerables las autoridades a demandas y pleitos. Una ordenanza de incumplimiento con ICE ayuda definir claramente los límites de esas interacciones.
